Oomnitza
Scaling Enterprise Asset Management through Design and AI Innovation
I joined Oomnitza as the first internal design hire and Product Design Manager to establish the user experience foundation for an enterprise asset management platform. I set the design direction for a critical new feature area—Software Asset Management (SAM)—while scaling the design practice from the ground up. At Oomnitza, I built and managed a design team, initiated the modernisation of the design system, improved cross-functional processes across design, product, and engineering, and pioneered AI-assisted prototyping workflows.
Deliverables: Software Asset Management features; Design System; AI Workflows; UX Process & Team Hiring
Project Type: Full End-to-End; Team management
Team: Product Design Manager (Self), 2 Product Designers
Business Goals
Transition Oomnitza from a ticket-centric view to a unified, asset-centric single source of truth for enterprise IT ecosystems. Expand platform capabilities into Software Asset Management (SAM) to allow organisations to streamline processes, optimise software spend, and turn technology into a strategic advantage.
User Impact Goals
Create and maintain a comprehensive toolset aimed at empowering retailers and internal teams to efficiently configure, manage, and deploy client e-commerce systems. The goal was to streamline workflows, enhance reliability, and simplify complex processes for faster, more intuitive digital retail operations.
Design Process
My design approach combines collaborative discovery, systems thinking, and operational execution. As the inaugural design hire, I balanced hands-on product strategy for major features like SAM with building team infrastructure—recruiting designers, establishing scalable design systems, and pioneering AI toolchains to accelerate product discovery.
01/ Research & Ideation
Led discovery for the Software Asset Management (SAM) offering. Partnered with product managers and engineering leads to analyze enterprise IT workflows, map complex compliance models, and translate multi-source asset data into intuitive, actionable dashboard experiences.
02/ Design System & Component Library
Initiated and directed the overhaul of the design system and component library. Established foundational UI patterns and design tokens to drive visual consistency across the platform, accelerating development velocity and creating a shared language between design and engineering.
03/ AI-Assisted Design & Rapid Prototyping
Developed concept designs with clear direction shaped by stakeholder input, balancing customisation with operational standards. Integrated product and compliance feedback to address risk-sensitive flows. Created and iterated user flow prototypes in Figma, validated continuously through user testing.
04/ Team Building & Process Optimization
Grew the design function by hiring and mentoring two Product Designers. Refined cross-functional operational processes across design, product, and engineering to streamline sprint planning, component governance, and continuous user testing.
Impact
Delivered Core SAM Feature: Set the design direction for Software Asset Management, establishing Oomnitza’s asset-centric offering for enterprise software management.
Built & Scaled Design Team: Recruited two product designers as the initial design lead, establishing formal UX practice standards.
Pioneered AI Workflows: Created custom Claude skills and Storybook .md integrations, democratising rapid prototyping across product and engineering.
Unified Design Infrastructure: Initiated and drove adoption of a standardized component library and design system
Round Up
As Product Design Manager and first internal design hire at Oomnitza, I shaped both the product vision and organizational design processes. By leading the design direction for Software Asset Management, implementing a scalable design system, and establishing cutting-edge AI prototyping workflows, I helped transform Oomnitza’s enterprise asset platform into a unified, scalable product suite.
